Follow these tips to make sure that your trips to wedding fairs and enjoyable and useful…
TAKE ALONG YOUR FRIENDS AND MAKE A DAY OF IT
Wedding fairs should be fun, so why not invite along your bridesmaids and let them help you to work out what you really want? You could spend some time together checking out your options, getting feedback on what they might think about your plans so far, and of course, just have an enjoyable day together. Afterwards, head out for a cocktail or a glass of bubbly to debrief! It’s a great way to bond before your big day.
HIT THE CATWALK SHOWS
By now, you’ve almost definitely looked at wedding dresses online. But seeing photos isn’t the same thing as seeing them in real life. Most wedding fairs have catwalk shows, and you can see all kinds of different styles being worn by models. Keep an open mind, and make a note of any that you particularly like. You may even be able to try them on whilst you’re there. Need help choosing the perfect dress? Check out this guide from WeddingLoco.
CREATE A PLAN BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Wedding fairs are big business, and some of them have literally hundreds of exhibitors. This can be great for checking out all your options, but it does sometimes mean that you can’t possibly get the chance to look at everything. So it makes sense to create a plan before you arrive. Look at the itinerary and the kind of businesses that will be there, and pinpoint any that you know you need to talk to. Make sure you also consider what you need to get sorted… If you already have a photographer booked for example, then you can skip those stalls.
CHECK OUT THE MASTERCLASSES
Yep, wedding fairs have masterclasses. And they can be really fun! You could go along and get a make-up tutorial. You could have a go at creating your own stationary. The options are endless and if you feel like getting creative, book yourself a slot and go along. These tend to be great places for meeting other brides and exchanging notes and ideas.
DON’T RUSH INTO ANY BIG DECISIONS
The excitement of the day can make it seem like a really good idea to go right ahead and make big decisions about your wedding. Stay grounded though, and remember that it’s not wise to rush into anything. At the very least, you’ll probably want to talk to your partner about it. It may even be the case that once you’ve reflected on it, it doesn’t seem like such a good idea after all!
ASK IF THERE ARE ANY SPECIAL PACKAGES OR DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE
Wedding suppliers want you to go ahead and book them, and so they’ll often create incentives for you to do exactly that. If there’s something that you know you want, be bold and ask about any special offers that they might available for attendees. You could end up saving a chunk of money or getting some extra bonuses thrown into your package.
MAKE THE MOST OF THE FREEBIES AT WEDDING FAIRS!
Freebies at wedding fairs are often awesome. You’ll find everything from cocktails to sweet treats to make up, and brands are keen for you to give them a go. Be sure to take a spare bag with you so you can carry them home.
Hitting your local wedding fairs can a fantastic experience for brides-to-be. By the end of the day, you’ll be full of ideas about how you can make your wedding that extra bit special.
